Minecraft 1.21 Update: Unveiling the New Features and Exciting Changes

Get ready, Minecraft fans! The Minecraft 1.21 update has officially been released now. It started to roll out on 13 June 2024 to make your game even more adventurous and fun. This update brings new difficulties, with a focus on combat and tinkering. You can explore the brand-new Trial Chamber underground and get to know new mobs like the Breeze and the Bogged.

Here in this guide, we will take you through the new additions and changes in the game, so let’s figure out what the ‘Tricky Trials’ update brings to the table.

What is the Name of Minecraft 1.21 Update?

The last major update released by Minecraft was 1.20, which came in October 2022. When the new update was launched, Minecraft didn’t name it officially for internal reasons. Months later, they named the Minecraft 1.20 update ‘Trails and Tales’.

This is probably why the Mojang Studios took the time to release a new update, 1.21, with an official name, named ‘Tricky Trials’. Mojang revealed this name when they released the Minecraft monthly video in April.

But why ‘Tricky Trials’? This is because the latest update brings some new and exciting challenges to the trial chamber, which might be tricky for the players to complete.

What are the New Mobs Added in the Minecraft 1.21 Update?

1. The Breeze

The Breeze

It is a new enemy in Minecraft, which can only be found in the trial chamber. They have unique attack qualities called ‘Wind Charge’, and the attack can hurt anything whenever it hits directly.

The moment it hits anything, an intense wind burst is created to push things back by a few blocks. However, the breeze sometimes drops breeze rods, useful in crafting different recipes.

2. The Bogs

The bogs are green skeletons that shoot poison arrows at the player, and the impact remains for 4 seconds. These lethal enemies can be found in mangrove swaps, swamps, and the new trial chambers.

Some Newly Added Features in Minecraft 1.21 Update?

1. The Crafter

The crafter is like a super crafting table; it is a special block that allows you to craft things automatically. After activating the crafter, the crafted item will be made and pushed out.

2. Trial Chambers

These are the new structures in Minecraft, which have been made to explore and combat. Trial chambers have plenty of unique rooms and can be found in four different ways. Exploring the tunnels in Trial Chambers, you will find safe rooms with beds, ominous vaults, parkour challenges, trial spawners, and underwater rooms.

3. The Ominous Bottle

It provides a Bad Omen effect, which you will get by killing pillager raid captains or finding them in vaults. When you have the Bad Omen effect, the moment you walk into a village, a raid starts automatically.

4. Trial Spawner and Omnious Spawner

Trial Spawner and Omnious Spawner

The trial spawner is an exciting feature in the Minecraft 1.21 update that keeps changing based on the number of players. Analysing the number of players, it drops specific mob groups divided into four parts: ranged, melee, small melee, and Breeze.

While exploring the trial chamber, you can find these mobs from all four groups, with at least one mob from each group. However, you can understand which mobs will appear next by looking at the surrounding boxes, and once you defeat all these mobs, you receive valuable rewards.

5. Trial Key and Omnious Trial Key

The trial key is an essential aspect of the Minecraft game, and it can be found in different places, such as decorated pots in the corridors, the entrance chest, and the trial spawner after defeating all the mobs.

It also has an ominous version, but you need to defeat all the mobs summoned by the ominous trial spawner to get that. There is a 30% probability of finding this key in the ominous vault.

6. The Vault and Omnious Vault

The vault is a magical box which can only be opened with the trial key. After opening the vault, many precious awards are dropped, and every player will receive that award only once.

On the other hand, the ominous vault is a special edition of the regular vault, which can usually be found in the trial chambers. Omnious vaults carry more valuable rewards than the natural vaults, including the rare heavy core item.

7. Breeze Rods

When you kill the mob named the Breeze, Breeze rods are received. These rods can be used to craft recipes for the wind charge, the new mace weapon, and the flow armour trim. Breeze rods can also be used with a damaged mace in an anvil to restore 25% of the mace.

8. Heavy Core

Heavy Core

As previously stated, the heavy core is a rare smaller item that is only available in the ominous vault. You can find these items in trial chambers and combine them with a breeze rod to form a grid, which is eventually used to make a mace.

9. Mace

Mace

You can use a breeze rod and a heavy core to create this precious melee weapon called the mace. The damage depends on the height you fall from, so the longer the fall, the more damage it does. When you hit a target with the mace, it creates a lot of damage to the mob.

10. Other Exciting Features

We discussed some of the newly introduced essential features in the latest Minecraft 1.21 update. Including these, there are a few more exciting things, such as:

  • Flow and bolt are the two latest armour trims.
  • New banner patterns, guster and flow.
  • Newly included paintings.
  • New pottery shreds, Guster, flow, and scrape.
  • Four new potions.
  • Three new music discs.
  • Nine latest background printings.

The Bottom Line

That’s all about the latest Minecraft 1.21 update, where Mojang Studios included many exciting features, from newly introduced mobs to innovative features like Trial Chambers. With all these latest items and gameplay mechanics, the newest update will undoubtedly keep the players engaged.
